“Yah it was great, he was asking me for a little while there to be a starter, to come out for the national anthem. The last game of the season he had the ‘ok’ to come on the ice. I had to take a couple of deep breaths at the blue line because when the audience realized he was my son, the crowd gave him a nice little ovation. Even if he never plays in the NHL, he’ll have the feeling of the crowd giving him applause.”
You know, when you have kids and you love them and you’re proud of them you just want to kiss them on the mouth sometimes.
okay so today I was at the mall and this girl walking in front of me and tripped and fell and instead of helping her up like a normal person would- I decided to make her feel less embarrassed and fall down too
but I guess another guy had the same idea because we fell at the same time
and then another person fell
and another
and suddenly I was lying in the middle of an impromptu fainting mob and a lot of people were shouting
and the girl who’d originally fallen looked so fucking happy

I get super emotional whenever I hear about Jeff Bauman, the young guy who lost both legs due to the bombings in Boston. But then I see this and I am ready to full on cry - here is Jeff, with a smile on his face even though he is in a wheelchair, giving a birthday gift to another victim (Sydney Corcoran).
What a great dude.
